This is Remmy, and we got to him with one hour to spare. Remmy was scheduled to be euthanized at a kill shelter, and we made it just in time. He was found as a stray, and at six months old, he has never known a soft bed, a steady hand, or a person who stays. The world has been a frightening place for him, and right now, he is still a bit of a nervous Nelly. He flinches at quick movements and hesitates at doorways. He watches before he trusts.

But Remmy wouldn't hurt a fly. Not one. Underneath the fear is one of the gentlest, sweetest dogs we have ever had the privilege of caring for, and the dog he is becoming grows a little braver every single day. He is leaning in more. He is making eye contact. He is starting to believe that good things can happen to him.

Remmy has been let down by the world once already, and we have promised him it will not happen again. Now we just need to find the person ready to show him what staying really looks like.

He needs a patient home with someone who knows that confidence is built, not rushed.
