Once everyone agrees that your home is the right fit, we’ll send you an adoption contract to review and sign. The adoption fee should be submitted within 48 hours of acceptance. After that, we’ll coordinate with you to arrange the arrival of your new family member, whether that’s a pickup or a drop-off, so you can begin your journey together!
The meet and greet is a crucial step in our adoption process, allowing all household members, including other pets, to interact with the prospective dog. This meeting provides an opportunity to observe how the dog responds to your family dynamics and existing animals, ensuring a harmonious fit. It’s also a chance to ask the foster caregiver detailed questions about the dog’s behaviour, preferences, and daily routine, helping you make an informed decision about bringing them into your home.
As part of our adoption process, we conduct reference checks by contacting 2–3 personal references, your veterinarian, and, if applicable, your landlord. These checks are essential to ensure that our dogs are placed in safe, loving, and responsible homes. They help us confirm that adopters have a history of providing proper care for pets, ensuring a successful and lasting adoption.
It’s important that we know the dog will be entering a safe home. We conduct home visits both in-person and/or virtually to ensure that your new dog will be entering a safe and welcoming environment.
Start by completing our adoption application, which helps us understand your lifestyle, preferences, and what you’re looking for in a canine companion. After submission, we’ll reach out via email to let you know if your application is being considered for a specific dog. If so, we’ll schedule a time for a detailed conversation to discuss your application further. This dialogue is essential to ensure a great match between you and the dog, fostering a successful and lasting adoption.

Not quite sure if this is the right dog for you?
We get it — sometimes you need a little time to know if it’s truly the perfect match. That’s why we offer our Foster-to-Adopt program.
As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take your new family member home on the same day he or she arrives. You will then have two weeks to get to know your furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.
Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee. The remaining portion of the fee will be due at the time of adoption. If, at the end of two weeks, you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family, IF you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.
Foster-to-adopt families are required to provide their own supplies and must arrive to pick up with the required supplies (see above “Other Cost Considerations”).
